| This made noticable difference in power. I also installed a cold air intake and flowmaster exhaust and now my truck is like a rocket. I have been switching between settings and it seems to be doing everything it says. |
Power Program Chip is the only way to go!

I got this for my Ford Ranger 2002 3.0L two wheel drive pickup. The front end has a simple torsion bar adjustment for maximum natural height (about 2.5 inches over stock). I've got the rear lifted via simple inexpensive 3 inch blocks. I was still able to retain standard shocks. This allowed me to run 33 X 12.50 Big O AT tires on eight inch rims.
I've got a Flow Master Delta 40 exhaust on the rear and a K&N Cold air Intake filter system on the front end, both of which provide maximum engine breathing and provide extra power and better fuel efficiency. The addition of this power programmer chip gave me a restoration of speedometer due to over-sized tires, a slight yet noticeable further improvement in gas mileage and better low end pull away torque power at the light. The chip also allowed me to improve the shift points on the transmission for more powerful and accurate shifting. This means faster jumps at the light and better highway pull away passing power.
It is extremely simple to use and you don't have to have any special mechanic knowledge. The company is very friendly and accessible on the phone in case you have a question. The programmer walks you step by step via the screen for the simple information it needs (stuff like wheel/tire size). It's very easy for anyone to program within minutes. There are a number of power levels you can experiment with and the fun is in trying them via short runs around the block. Just takes a minute or two to change settings until you have the performance level you desire. I still run regular gas with no problem, but I will throw in the mid-octane level stuff if I'm heading into the mountains.
This will not make your six cylinder into an eight cylinder but it will definitely safely maximize your six cylinder in terms of delivering the most bang for the buck it is capable of rendering. It totally stores all your original factory settings for everything within the programmer and you can switch it back to factory setting with the touch of a button any time you want. Finally, there was no problem passing smog here in California which has the strictest emissions around. Even my Ford dealer winked and smiled at it (though officially they can't encourage you to use anything but their stuff). I would recommend this to everyone! |
Much Better

| Well this is the 1st time I towed my boat a long distance (500 miles round trip) since I installed the programmer. A big difference from stock, tows with much less effort and the trans is not not searching. This is they way the truck should have been built |
Seems great so far

| Quick and easy installation. I can definitely notice the power increase across all RPMs. There appears to be about a 10% increase in MPG. |

Only gain I got from using the Cortex was that I could correct my speedometer which was off when I had over-sized tires installed. No performance change, minimal if any fuel mileage increase.
Would not buy another or recommend to anybody. |
